“However, don’t be taken in by the slick website companies (check for them in the top sponsor lists) that market medical tourism with a telemarketing staff of as many as 40 high-pressure sales people posing as “Patient Assistants”. These are profit-driven sales organizations that  promise you the world, hard sell to get your deposit  (by Western Express) and often put patients at risk through faulty scheduling and switch-and-bait tactics once you arrive and are at their mercy. These organizations are not owned by physicians; they are internet selling operations that subcontract out services so you never know who is going to do your procedures or what kind of assistance you will receive. One organization has been marketing the services of a plastic surgeon who has been deceased for years.  Any medical tourism organization that asks you to pay even a portion of the medical fees up front before you are evaluated by your surgeon or dentist is not a bonafide medical practice.

“This delightful city, the most European in South America, is often compared to Paris, but in my opinion its young vibe and verdant scenery and temperate climate  is far more intoxicating.  In most  of ‘B’aires” barrios, you’ll enjoy a  safe, park-like urban environment with the most amazing juxtaposition of classic and contemporary architecture. The city comes alive at night. You’ll enjoy mingling on the streets with it’s young respectful, attractive population, and enjoy being outside in the fresh air and mild weather. Once you experience the City’s flowering tree lined streets and well- equipped parks,  the relaxed and stimulating Porteňo café society, plethora of cultural and arts opportunities, international cuisine and premium wines, and shopping galore (THINK SHOES, COUTURE AND ART) you’ll see why this is wonderful place to visit and recover.

“Then there are the affordable excursions you can experience before or after surgery.  Visit nearby Haciendas in the Pampas for Gaucho horse handling demonstrations, folk dance and music, and enjoy Argentina’s famous Parilla (pronounced “parisha”) grilled meat and provolone; oenophiles can take a short flight to Mendoza’s impeccable wine region of 600 wineries in the shadow of the Andes or to the astounding Iguaçu Falls on the border with Brazil; tour the vast natural wonderlands of Patagonia with its world renown glacier and quaint coastal villages near Antarctica. Hum along to tunes from The Sound of Music as you revel in the green mountains, crystal lakes and alpine meadows of the Barras Lochs region, comparable in beauty to Switzerland’s lake country -- truly a Mecca for fly fishing.
